FASHION TECH WORKSHOP
USING THE LED RIBBON

This workshop will launch you into the world of Fashion Technology! Cindy Clark and FILF will pump up your creative juices and Anina Net's manufacturing insights from collaborating with international companies will equip you to take your designs to the next level!
Every participant will receive an LED Ribbon Kit with a smorgasbord of lights to pick and choose how to illuminate your designs. Normally, LEDs are on hard metal copper plating strips, unbendable, and not very comfortable—not to mention needing bigger battery power to light them up. Not in the case of the #LEDRibbon which is not using copper backing, but rather a soft fabric ribbon which can decompose. The remaining connected thread, micro LEDs, and the small controller leave little left over. A small step in the direction of more sustainability in electronics.
You are also encouraged to bring your own wardrobe pieces, electronics, and random bits of inspiration to modify or transform into new designs. Bring diffusion materials (plastic, films, gems, mesh, etc) to make the provided multi-mode LED lights shine in new and unique ways! We will have access to sewing machines, hot glue guns, soldering irons, and a collection of brilliant minds.
We will team you up with other creative technologists so that participants of all skill levels can create meaningful, beautiful outcomes. Wear what you create to the CODAME ART+TECH Festival [2018] or have it on display in our Fashion Technology Zone!
Workshop Logistics:
- No previous experience necessary
- Closed toe shoes required to work at TheShop
- Price includes your own LED ribbon
- We will have some additional creative materials on hand but you are encouraged to bring your own Flexable Inspiration Launching Fixings!
